CLUB
RACING...
If you'd like to come along and
have a look, we offer your 1st race meeting
FREE.
Due
to insurance purposes, after your 3rd meeting
you must register with the BRCA (British Radio
Car Association) if not already a member (BRCA
membership is £13 year). SMCC is registered
as a Club with the BRCA.
Meetings
cost £5 indoor & outdoor. **
We have some basic club cars**
that can be hired out for £5 per meeting. These
are great for anyone new to the R/C hobby who
want to 'try before you buy' as you don't need
your own car. Help is given to Newcomers and
Novice Drivers.
When
racing indoors, there is a 27T limit on the
motors that can be used due to confinement of
space. Brushless motors and the latest LiPo
batteries are also now admitted for indoor racing.
Outside meetings, any 'reasonable' motors can
be run.
The club uses transponders and electronic timing.
These are small boxes attached to your car bodyshell.
When your car passes underneath the timing loop,
the transponder sends a signal to the timing
computer and your lap is counted. Without a
transponder on your car your laps will not be
counted. If you do not have a suitable hole
in your bodyshell for a transponder we can make
it for you. Personal transponders are accepted
(let race control know when you sign in).

The
Meeting Format:
Drivers
are divided into 'formulas' depending on ability,
and will usually race with others of a similar
standard.
Each
meeting consists of 3 or 4 rounds of Heats followed
by one round of Finals.
The
fastest time for each driver places him in a
qualifying list which is used to determine positions
for the Finals.
The
first 5 - 7 fastest qualifiers will form the
A Final, then the next 5 - 7 fastest qualifiers
form the B Final etc...

Indoor
and Outdoor Circuits...
